Dalat? The Summer Palace of Emperor Bao Dai
Known as the "Little Paris of Vietnam," Dalat has long been a top honeymoon destination for locals, attracting over 300,000 visitors annually. As early as the beginning of the 20th century, Dalat was favored by the French who, unable to endure the hot and humid climate along the Mekong River and the coast, relocated to this high-altitude city at 1,475 meters above sea level, enjoying a cool climate year-round.
As a result, Dalat at that time was essentially a small European mountain town, dotted with numerous French-style villas. Its inconvenient transportation helped Dalat avoid the ravages of war, preserving many colonial-era buildings. Standing here, one often feels as if they’re in France.
The Twin Lakes in the city center are surrounded by rolling hills. On one side of the lake, local children joyfully fly kites, while on the other lies Dalat’s 18-hole golf course.
