    This edition of the “Green Field Skiing Showdown” was the first time in the history of the event to be held outside of Beijing. The long journey did not dampen the enthusiasm of the “Showdowners”; instead, they were filled with anticipation for the new venue. The “Mass Slalom Race” was the highlight of this year’s event. After a year of buildup, skiing enthusiasts finally had the perfect opportunity to showcase their skills. The course was meticulously designed in line with the Showdown’s principle of “mass participation,” ensuring fun while incorporating professional gate setups and international timing equipment, allowing participants to enjoy the thrill of competition while gaining a clear understanding of their own abilities. The formalization of an amateur competition was another highlight of this event.

    During the mass slalom competition, exciting scenes unfolded one after another, with fierce competition in all four categories: men’s and women’s alpine skiing, and men’s and women’s snowboarding. The format was a single-run timed race, where participants took off in order after drawing lots. Without competitors right beside them, it truly became a challenge against oneself. In the end, Yu Xiaolu and Li Wenbin won the women’s alpine and snowboard championships respectively; Xin Weijun, Yuan Hao, and Niu Jun claimed the men’s snowboard championship, runner-up, and third place respectively; Cheng Zengyue, Ma Wenkui, and Shen Yuan took the men’s alpine skiing championship, runner-up, and third place respectively. At the award ceremony, we spotted many loyal “Showdowners” who have participated in three or more editions of the event. They have made attending the showdown an annual winter tradition, allowing them to enjoy the thrill of speed on the slopes while gathering joyfully with fellow skiing enthusiasts.

    With the increasing popularity of skiing in China in recent years and a growing awareness of leisure activities, more and more people have taken up the sport, leading to a rapid improvement in the skill level of skiing enthusiasts.     The purpose of Green Field Outdoor Network’s nine-year-long tradition of organizing mass skiing competitions is to combine skiing with public leisure and entertainment, presenting the seemingly complex sport of skiing in a more accessible and fun way to the general public, thereby laying a more solid foundation for the popularization of skiing. Next year will mark the 10th edition of the “Green Field Skiing Showdown” — let’s look forward to it together!
