Lively summer evening breeze: 2010 Luodong Fringe Festival Monkey Carnival

The “Luodong Fringe Festival” has entered its ninth year, offering a space for music, dance, theater, and other art forms each year. With rotating performances by art groups from all walks of life, it gives the public a chance to experience children’s play art and local culture. This year’s festival runs until August 21, featuring creative workshops, art blogs, the Monkey Stage, a children’s story corner, street performers, and the Monkey Night, all taking place across Luodong and adding a lively atmosphere to summer evenings.

The “Monkey Party” is a nighttime street parade formed by acrobatic artists and township office teams. From now until August 20, every evening from 7:30 to 9:00 PM, a grand procession takes place on Xingdong Road in front of Zhongshan Park. Led by a fire dance team, along with professional dance troupes, samba drummers, distinctive community development associations, and the monkey-themed float, the streets of Luodong become as lively as a carnival.

The carnival and Fringe Night on August 21 will be the grand finale, with many domestic and international groups joining the celebration. The festivities continue from daytime through the night, bringing this year’s fringe festival to a perfect close.
