In 2013, entering its fifth year, The North Face 100® Beijing International Trail Challenge will move to Mentougou District in Beijing, featuring a brand-new course and format that push the limits of difficulty. Unlike previous years, this edition of the race will have a cumulative elevation gain and loss of up to 5,000 meters, with over 60% of the course on dirt roads, significantly increasing its off-road intensity and making the course more professional. The event will focus on the 50 km and 100 km categories, aiming to create an internationally benchmarked trail running competition with a more professional group of participants. Meanwhile, as the only race in China linked to the global elite ultra-trail event UTMB (Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc), runners who complete this race may earn UTMB points and qualify for UTMB events.
This year all50 km finishers will receive 1 UTMB (Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc) point, and 100 km finishers will receive 3 UTMB points. Spread the word among fellow runners!"

Runners will start at “Zhaitang Cultural Park” (0 km, 400 m elevation), head south along Zhaima Road toward “Malan Village,” climbing steadily along the road for 180 m to reach Malan Village (5.5 km, 580 m elevation); after leaving Malan Village, they will run onto a gentle dirt road, passing the Dashiali Film Studio (11 km, 485 m elevation), which was used to film the movie “Dream Factory,” then follow the Zhaitang Reservoir to the dam crest (16 km, 470 m elevation) and return to Zhaitang Town (17.5 km, 400 m elevation); from Zhaitang Street, they will turn toward the “Cuibai Scenic Area Entrance” (21.5 km, 485 m elevation) and enter Huanglingxi Village (23 km, 590 m elevation). Over the next 6.5 km on mountain roads, they will climb 590 m to reach the highest point on the entire course — the “Mountain Pass” (29.5 km, 1183 m elevation), then descend from the pass to “Baohuangkou” (32 km, 770 m elevation); from Baohuangkou, runners will re-enter the road, reach Cuandixia Village (35.5 km, 630 m elevation), and then take a dirt road to climb over Niangniangmiao Mountain (36 km, 710 m elevation); after descending, they will run along the road again to the west entrance of Xialing Village (38.5 km, 570 m elevation), then climb 190 m on a dirt and gravel road to reach the “Xialing Village Entrance” (41 km, 780 m elevation), and descend 380 m over 8.5 km on the road before finally returning to Zhaitang Cultural Park (48.5 km, 400 m elevation).100100km Course:

From the “Xialing Village Entrance,” they will descend on a dirt road to the “Cuibai Scenic Area Entrance” (29 km, 485 m elevation); afterward, they will enter Huanglingxi Village (31 km, 590 m elevation) and climb 593 m over a short distance on mountain roads to reach the Mountain Pass (37 km, 1183 m elevation), then descend from the pass to “Baohuangkou” (39.5 km, 770 m elevation); from Baohuangkou, they will run along the road to “Baiyu Parking Lot” (43 km, 1000 m elevation), and then begin ascending 660 m on a gravel road to reach the highest peak on the course — Huangcaoliang (47 km, 1660 m elevation). Along the way, they will pass the Ming Dynasty Great Wall Solid Tower (49 km, 1550 m elevation), then reach Ma’anliang (55 km, 1300 m elevation) and switch to a dirt road before starting their descent. During the descent, they will cross several peaks in succession, and upon reaching the base of the mountains, they will enter the “Great Rift Valley” section (65 km, 600 m elevation), where the famous movie “A Chinese Tall Story” was filmed. After an 18.5 km continuous descent through the mountainous terrain, they will arrive at Héhékǒu Town (73.5 km, 390 m elevation), then transition to a gently sloping road section for climbing. After passing through Wanglongkou Village and Lintai (76.5 km, 530 m elevation), they will reach the “Ping’an Shan Entrance” (80.5 km, 665 m elevation). Following a rugged gravel section, they will climb to the highest point of Ping’an Shan (82.5 km, 950 m elevation); after descending from Ping’an Shan, they will take a dirt road to cross two small hills and reach the monument commemorating the “Wangjiashan” (88 km, 930 m elevation) Incident, a site of tragedy during the war of resistance. They will then follow the road on Wangjiashan to reach the Tang Dynasty’s famous temple, Lingyue Temple (90 km, 850 m elevation), and then arrive at the “Xialing Village Entrance” (92.5 km, 780 m elevation). From there, they will descend nearly 8 km along the road, dropping 380 m in elevation, before finally returning to Zhaitang Cultural Park (100 km, 400 m elevation).
