The nearly one-month-long "I Want to Be on MIDI" Shenzhen MIDI Music Festival Band Selection came to a successful close on April 20th at Shenzhen City's Kaisa Plaza. After fierce on-site competition, Hong Kong's Deep Inside band and Changsha's Gorgeous Outerwear band took first and second place, respectively, with Hong Kong's Counterflow band and Shenzhen's Nomads band tying for third. These four bands have secured a direct spot at the 2013 Shenzhen MIDI Music Festival, where they will perform alongside both domestic and international headliners from May 17th to 19th at the Shenzhen Universiade Center.

From the very beginning, the "I Want to Be on MIDI" Shenzhen MIDI Band Selection attracted widespread attention from numerous young bands, eventually drawing over 80 bands from mainland China, Hong Kong, and Malaysia to register for the competition. These were among the final few band slots for the 2013 Shenzhen MIDI Music Festival. The finals were incredibly lively, with all eight bands giving their all and delivering a fiery and exciting mini-festival performance for the audience. The four winning bands have been confirmed to perform at the 2013 Shenzhen MIDI Music Festival, the largest outdoor music event in the country, to be held at the Shenzhen Universiade Center in May. In addition, they will receive two months of free professional training at the Beijing MIDI Music School, supported jointly by Kaisa Group and the Beijing MIDI Music School.

The call to gather for the 2013 Shenzhen MIDI Music Festival has sounded, and the rock army is gathering once again. From May 17th to 19th, the Shenzhen Universiade Center will host a three-day grassland youth carnival attended by tens of thousands. The lineup includes not only Cui Jian, Tang Dynasty, Zi Yue Qiu Ye, Xie Tianxiao, Yaksha, Escape Plan, but also Mumaa & Third Party, Brain Failure, Twisted Machine, King Lychee (Hong Kong), Chochukmo (Hong Kong), FANGWEI MEN, Zuoyou, Toy Boat Captain, Chuan Zi, Zhong LIFeng, Yang Jiasong, Song Yuzhe, Why Oceans (Macau), and over 50 other top Chinese rock and folk acts. There will also be more than ten international acts from Germany, the UK, the US, Italy, Finland, South Korea, and other countries joining the festival. Additionally, 20 DJs and many more outstanding young bands will take the stage at Shenzhen MIDI.
The programming for the 2013 Shenzhen MIDI Music Festival is rich and diverse. In addition to the four main stages—Tang (Rock Stage), Ming (Folk Stage), Yuan (Electronic Stage), and Kids MIDI—there will be nearly ten interactive zones for fans, including a camping area, beer and food plaza, and creative flea market, set up in collaboration with Kaisa City Plaza, Zongzheng Audi, Zhonghai Shengyuan Courtyard, Tianjian Westin Hotel, Kaisa Keyu Hotel, Hong Kong Daoxianghua Cuisine, and Harley (Shenzhen). The 2013 Shenzhen MIDI is sure to be the biggest youth celebration of the year across the nation this May.
