The 2012 Leave No Trace Taipei Hiking Day will be held on the weekend morning of November 24, when autumn weather is crisp and clear. The hiking route will take place on the “Zhongyong Mountain” and “Jinmian Mountain” trails in the Neihu area. Registration begins on August 20, 2012, and will remain open until all slots are filled.
In addition to receiving an Odlo long-sleeve sweatshirt and a multifunctional headscarf, participants can also enter a lucky draw for over a hundred attractive prizes, including a NT$200,000 cash prize, a Merida carbon fiber bicycle worth NT$50,000, a GORE-TEX waterproof and breathable stylish jacket, and vacation vouchers from the Taiwan Leisure Hotel Association.
This event is designed for people of all ages and features two different hiking routes: 1) A family-friendly route perfect for happy outings together: starting from Taipei’s Xihu Elementary School, passing through the Jinmian Mountain hiking trail and the Jinlong Industrial Road, the route offers hiking paths and abundant green ecological resources. The total distance is 7 kilometers, with approximately 4 kilometers of flat asphalt road, making it a welcoming route suitable for families to stroll together. 2) A challenging route for those who dare to challenge themselves: the Zhongyong Mountain hiking trail, a 7.2-kilometer challenging course that not only features dense forests and shady trees but also offers views of Dajianshan and Dajiantou mountains, as well as a bird's-eye view of the recently popular Baishihu Suspension Bridge. It's the perfect choice to relax your body and mind. The Bishan Rock Temple located halfway up the mountain is also a super-popular scenic spot in recent years. Standing on the temple platform, you can take in the entire Taipei Basin surrounded by mountains, allowing us to enjoy a comfortable and happy outdoor lifestyle together.
Odlo, which has long cared about Taiwan’s mountain forests, has specially invited Jiang Xiu-zhen, the world’s first woman to have climbed the Seven Summits and both sides of Mount Everest, to serve as the ambassador of the event. Through Jiang’s professional mountaineering experience and personal practice of Leave No Trace principles, she calls on more hiking clubs, outdoor activity enthusiasts, and environmentally conscious businesses to join in supporting the important concept of Leave No Trace, helping to preserve Taiwan’s mountain forests in their most natural state.
After the hike, a series of Leave No Trace experiential activities will be organized at the finish line assembly point, allowing participants to embrace the mountain forests while personally experiencing Leave No Trace outdoor concepts.
