The Taichung City Fire Bureau reported today that around 2 p.m. on the 6th, they received a report of a woman who had fallen into a valley 0.8 kilometers along the Yuanzui Shaolai Trail on the Daxue Mountain Forest Road. She was reportedly weak in all four limbs and waiting for rescue.
The fire bureau immediately formed a rescue team, equipped with ropes, carabiners, harnesses, and other rescue gear. They set out from the entrance of the Snow Mountain Forest Road and used phone contact to pinpoint her location. Around 6 p.m. on the 6th, they found the 54-year-old woman surnamed Chung, who was awaiting rescue.
The woman told police and firefighters that her umbrella had fallen during the hike. Because the area where it landed was only 40 centimeters wide and the path had become slippery due to several days of rain, she accidentally fell down a 6-meter-deep slope.
Fortunately, a tree blocked her fall after the initial drop, preventing her from falling further.
However, the frightened woman was too weak to climb back up and had to be pulled up by rescuers who assisted from the side. As she had no obvious external injuries and her vital signs were stable, she chose not to seek medical treatment and returned home on her own.
Additionally, around 6 p.m. the previous evening, the Heping Police Precinct also received a report that nine people were stranded and needed rescue on the Aleng Mountain Trail in the Liling Tribe. A rescue team of eight was formed and entered the mountain around 8 p.m., locating the nine individuals about 200 meters from the peak. They were escorted down the mountain in the early hours of today and have since returned home. 1020508
