Last week, the school once again successfully completed the "Dream of Lake Jiaming" activity for second-year junior high students. A total of 287 students participated across four sessions, with 97% successfully reaching Lake Jiaming at an altitude of over 3,300 meters, where they read out their “transformation declarations” by the lake. The round-trip journey of over 26 kilometers and elevation gain exceeding 1,000 meters on the Lake Jiaming trekking route, even with sufficient physical training, is still no easy feat for these children around the age of 14. But it is precisely because of the challenge that they can learn and grow.

Some students told us after descending the mountain that during training, they always felt their physical fitness was poor and that they could never make it to Lake Jiaming. But during these three days, encouraged by their classmates and teachers, they decided to change their mindset and ultimately completed the challenge.

This time, to help students gain more insights from the mountain climbing process, the school arranged for students to write down their own declarations of change after reaching the goal of Lake Jiaming in the mountain hut. Some said, “I hope to become someone who takes action, not just talks.” Others wrote, “I want to get rid of my lazy personality and become a strong and determined person.” Some even honestly admitted, “I’m not sure if I can keep these promises, but I will definitely keep them in my heart.” It is believed that these self-improvement aspirations will have some impact on their future.
