The climbing season on Mount Everest has begun, and Nepal has introduced new management measures. Starting this week, climbers are required to bring their personal trash down the mountain. Additionally, stricter safety controls will be enforced at the base camp.
Nepal’s Ministry of Tourism stated that, effective immediately, climbers on Mount Everest must carry at least eight kilograms of garbage down the mountain to be weighed by management personnel at the base.
Nepal’s tourism authorities have also set up a liaison office at the Everest base camp, which will be staffed on rotation from early March to the end of May.
