Good news for travelers from Taiwan to Canada!

Starting now, Taiwanese passport holders can enjoy up to six months of visa-free entry for “non-work purposes.” This means that those coming to Canada for language study or short-term courses lasting no more than six months no longer need to apply for a student visa separately. Statistics show that around 2,300 people traveled to Canada for study or travel last year, and this new policy is expected to spark a surge in educational travel to Canada.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Taiwan currently enjoys visa-free entry to 38 countries, and 21 countries offer visa-on-arrival, with stays ranging from 7 to 180 days. Adding Canada’s participation alongside the 28 Schengen Area countries, the total reaches 88 countries. The Canadian Trade Office in Taipei stated that this move will further promote business, cultural, and people-to-people exchanges between Canada and Taiwan.
