A 42-year-old female hiker suffered from altitude sickness last night at the Jioming Lake shelter, which sits over 3,000 meters above sea level. Three mountain rescuers carried her manually down to the Xiangyang Shelter. At 7:50 p.m., firefighters and police officers from Xiangyang Police Precinct met them there, then carried the woman further down to the trailhead. Xiangyang Precinct Chief Chang Nengwei strapped her to his body and transported her by motorcycle to Xiangyang Recreation Area around 9 p.m., after which she was handed over to an ambulance and taken to Guanshan Tzu Chi Hospital. The hiker was conscious but physically weak, with normal blood pressure and heart rate, and stable vital signs.
