To prevent juvenile misbehavior and harmful incidents during the summer vacation and to ensure the healthy physical and mental development of teenagers, the Toufen Police Sub-bureau held a "Shitoushan Hiking & Trail Cleaning Fun Tour" on the morning of the 1st in Nanzhuang Township, using the hiking activity to promote various summer crime prevention measures to young people.
In the morning, around 200 elementary and middle school students took part in the "Shitoushan Hiking & Trail Cleaning Fun Tour." Led by police officers, the youths went hiking and cleaned trails. The aim was to encourage students to spend more time outdoors to strengthen their physical health, foster greater care for the natural environment, and combine the hike with a Shitoushan guided tour and lantern lighting to help them understand temple architecture and historical development.
During the event, Chief Xie Zhimin of the Toufen Police Sub-bureau spoke to the youths about issues such as drugs, gangs, street racing, and online fraud as part of the crime prevention initiative. Interactive quizzes with prizes helped boost involvement, with students eagerly raising their hands to answer, creating a lively and cheerful atmosphere.
The Toufen Township Health Center also promoted the "Youth Project" drug abuse prevention campaign, reminding teenagers to value life, reject drugs, understand the dangers of narcotics, support anti-drug efforts, and take action to reverse drug harm through four key actions.
Chief Xie Zhimin of the Toufen Sub-bureau stated that during the summer vacation, when there is no academic pressure, youths are prone to loitering late at night in internet cafes, gaming arcades, and venues that are harmful to their physical and mental health, such as those featuring pornography or gambling. They may even run away from home, use or traffic drugs, abuse substances, engage in prostitution, or join gangs under peer influence or temptation. Therefore, the event was organized in collaboration with the Toufen Township Farmers’ Association and the Toufen Township Health Center to broaden the scope of awareness and remind students and their parents to work together to prevent juvenile misbehavior.
