An 80-year-old man surnamed Tu from Yonghe District went out for a walk recently but accidentally got lost on the hiking trail behind Leshan Temple in Zhonghe District. Upon receiving the report, the Zhonghe First Police Precinct and Yonghe Police Precinct used the mobile phone tower location to confirm that he was still within Zhonghe District. Fortunately, Tu’s daughter managed to contact him by phone. Police deduced he was on a trail behind a public temple and successfully located him, escorting him down the mountain.
Tu’s daughter said in a panic that her father has dementia, it was getting dark, and he couldn’t explain where he was or find his way home. Officers Lin Junxian and Zhu Jiali from the Jing’an Police Station of the Zhonghe First Police Precinct searched alleys and lanes near No. 100 Banan Road in Zhonghe District, but still couldn’t find the elderly man.
Fortunately, Tu’s daughter kept calling her father’s phone and finally got through. Her father said, “I’m in the middle of the jungle, near a Tudigong (Earth God) temple.” At that point, officers deduced the location was likely near the Guangde Fude Temple and Leshan Temple in Zhonghe District. They immediately asked the family to contact the elderly man again by phone to confirm his exact position. To ensure his safety, they advised him to stay put and not move around.
Officers immediately split up to search various hiking trails and spent nearly an hour searching on foot before finally finding him on the hiking trail behind Leshan Temple. After confirming he was in good health, the officers escorted him back home.
