Taichung: Two women from Taipei, surnamed Li and Lin, who were hiking for the first time, attempted to reach the Taoshan Mountain Hut at an altitude of 3,325 meters in Heping District. Unexpectedly, both developed symptoms of altitude sickness the previous night. Ms. Li called the fire department for help overnight, and a Sea Gull helicopter successfully airlifted them yesterday. They were sent to hospital and are now in good condition.
