Ke Yukun, director of the Legal Affairs Office at the Kaohsiung City Police Department, went missing on the 14th after climbing the southern section two of Yushan, specifically the peak known as “Yunfeng,” which is listed among Taiwan’s Hundred Peaks. The Kaohsiung City and Taitung County police departments, along with the Yushan National Park Headquarters in Shuili Township and the Sixth Brigade of the Protection Seventh Corps (formerly the Yushan Police Team), dispatched large numbers of personnel to conduct rescue operations in the mountains. The search has been ongoing for over a week, but so far, no results have been found.
Rescue teams formed by the police departments of Kaohsiung City and Taitung County deployed dozens of officers who were transported by helicopter in batches to the upper reaches of the Lakuyin River. They set up camp in mountain huts and carried out extensive search operations.
The Yushan National Park Headquarters and the Sixth Brigade of the Protection Seventh Corps (formerly the Yushan Police Team) under the National Police Agency also dispatched a total of more than 10 personnel to assist in the search. It was originally planned to send additional personnel by helicopter on the 24th, but due to thick cloud cover and poor visibility, the plan was changed to ground-based reinforcements. The hope is to find him while advancing on foot and bring good news.
