On June 20, 2013, the “Enjoyable Outdoor” themed lecture was held in the auditorium of the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology. Attendees included the President and Secretary-General of the China Textile Association, Li Shuqiang, Deputy General Manager of Ozark Outdoor Equipment, and Zheng Rong, President of the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology, as well as lecturer Zhou Shaoyun. The lecture comprehensively elaborated on the outdoor spirit and development trends of enjoying sports. While analyzing the characteristics and current development of outdoor activities, it clearly pointed out the inevitability of engaging in outdoor sports and innovatively proposed the future goal of outdoor sports becoming a new trend.
This meeting was hosted by teacher Zhou Shaoyun, with the theme “enjoy the outdoors” introduced by Mr. Li Shuqiang. The lecture covered four aspects: the background and characteristics of outdoor sports, the reasons for participating in them, the necessity of outdoor gear, and the future development of the outdoor sports market. Based on the characteristics of outdoor sports—physical foundation, teamwork, comprehensive science, returning to nature, simplicity, self-challenge, and potential stimulation—the lecture further analyzed Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, concluding that valuing health is currently the most fashionable trend. Self-actualization sits at the top of the pyramid, and with societal development trends, the true essence of outdoor sports also lies in finding oneself.
Teacher Li Shuqiang provided a detailed analysis and explanation of outdoor gear categories and specific products, dividing outdoor equipment into two main types: hardware and software. Additionally, through a vivid and illustrative water-drop test, he specifically explained the necessity of outdoor sports gear and the importance of selection, emphasizing the comfort and safety-protection performance of outdoor products. While summarizing and analyzing outdoor gear, Teacher Li Shuqiang also objectively and deeply analyzed the current development of outdoor sports both domestically and internationally, and predicted the future outdoor sports market, insightfully identifying outdoor sports as an emerging market trend. In the end, students actively participated by asking questions, and Teacher Li Shuqiang fully affirmed their abilities and concluded by stating that outdoor sports are a process of finding and realizing oneself.
For this lecture, relevant school departments actively engaged in curriculum communication, coordination, and event research. The school, along with the attending guests and students, jointly embodied the spirit of “harmonious diversity and unity of knowledge and action,” communicating amicably and delivering the culture of outdoor sports even more effectively. The lecture concluded successfully amid warm applause.
