The Disaster Relief and Ambulance Command Division of the Nantou County Fire Bureau stated that at 5:20 p.m., they received a report relayed from the Chiayi County Fire Bureau about individuals needing rescue in Shuiyang Forest, located at the border between Zhushan Township in Nantou County and Alishan Township in Chiayi County. Emergency personnel, including rescuers from the Lugu Fire Station and volunteer firefighters, were quickly dispatched with lighting equipment and first aid gear to enter the mountain.
The Nantou County Fire Bureau said that two middle-aged men visited Shuiyang Forest at the border of Nantou and Chiayi today, and one of them required rescue for unknown reasons. However, communication in the mountainous area is poor, and the person who reported the emergency was unable to clearly describe their location, only mentioning being near a lake. The Lugu Fire Station conducted an overnight search and rescue mission in the mountains.
Meanwhile, at 5:38 p.m., the Disaster Relief and Ambulance Command Division of the Nantou County Fire Bureau received a report from a member of the public surnamed Chen, stating that two men and one woman had been climbing the main peak of Hehuan Mountain and became lost on their way down due to taking a wrong turn. They were unable to provide their exact location. The fire department dispatched the Ren’ai Fire Station along with officers from the 9th Brigade of the 7th Battalion of the National Police Agency’s Peace Preservation Police to search for the missing individuals. 1050515
