The striking exterior of the Butterfly Dome resembles a life-giving chrysalis, interwoven with the hexagonal and triangular textures of bamboo baskets, combined with permeable bricks in varying hues to form indigenous textile patterns. It serves as a vibrant element of "flower dance, butterfly flight, and green living" at the Flower Expo, as well as a lively symbol of life itself.
Located in the Fine Arts Park area, the Butterfly Dome captivates globally with its unique architectural form and semi-open space design. Its semi-open layout allows for natural ventilation, while the varying light transmittance of different roofing materials contributes to energy efficiency and carbon reduction. This outstanding artistic and architectural aesthetic has not only attracted numerous idol TV dramas to film here but also made the dome a key venue for the opening and closing ceremonies of the Flower Expo, as well as a significant hub for a rich array of artistic and cultural performances.
Covering an area of approximately 3,043 square meters, the Butterfly Dome offers seating for 1,200 spectators. The stage is semi-open and features a U-shaped auditorium. Each performance presents a 40- to 50-minute set show themed around the Flower Expo’s concept of “flower dance, butterfly flight, and green living.” Additionally, from 11:00 AM to 3:30 PM daily, a special herb-themed robotic guide entertains visitors with fun interactive games.
