Nantou: A team of five hikers recently entered the Central Mountain Range from Ruisui, Hualien, planning to traverse the Southern Section Three and descend via Xinyi, Nantou. However, a 58-year-old man surnamed Lin, suspected of suffering from gastrointestinal bleeding and bloody stool, found it difficult to walk. Yesterday, he called for help via satellite phone near Tianan Kulan Mountain. The Nantou County Fire Bureau assembled a rescue team, but the helicopter was unable to take off due to thick cloud cover. The aerial rescue is expected to be carried out this morning.
