To enhance hiker safety, the Taichung City Government will carry out renovations on Trails No. 2, 4, 5, and 6 in Daking this year. Among them, the No. 5 Acacia Trail will be closed from its entrance to Heisong Pavilion—approximately 700 meters—due to the deterioration and collapse of certain sections. The closure is effective immediately and will last until the end of March.
The Taichung City Tourism Bureau noted that during the first phase of restrictions, warning fences and notices will be put up, and the public is urged not to attempt to pass through the closed area to avoid danger.
The Tourism Bureau stated that the first phase of construction will run from now until the end of March, closing the section from the entrance of Trail No. 5 to Heisong Pavilion, approximately 700 meters, as well as the connection point between Trails No. 1, 2, and No. 5. During this time, hikers can access Heisong Pavilion via Trail No. 5-1.
Additionally, the rest of the trail that remains open is still accessible as usual. Hikers are advised to plan their ascent and descent routes in advance to avoid having to turn back midway.
The Daking No. 5 Trail runs from north to south along the ridge, passing by Erzhan Mountain and Touzhan Mountain, and connects Trails No. 1 to No. 4. With an elevation ranging between 595 and 859 meters, it offers excellent views and is one of the most popular trails among the 12 hiking routes in Daking. 1060204
