Kaohsiung: A hiking team from Taoyuan attempting to climb the “black mountain” (unofficial or off-trail route) in the southern section of the South Cross Mountain Range had one hiker reportedly suffering from gastrointestinal discomfort stranded at an altitude of 3,200 meters. They requested police and fire department assistance. Rescue personnel attempted a helicopter rescue yesterday but had to return to ChingChuanKang Airport due to poor weather conditions. Another rescue flight will be attempted today depending on the weather.
