A 27-year-old woman surnamed Chen climbed alone from the Yuli Store trailhead to Wuliaojian in Sanchong District this morning. While traversing the narrow ridge at Duli Peak, she slipped on the wet and slippery path and fell about three stories down the mountainside. Rescue units received the report at around 12:46 p.m. and immediately deployed 30 police and volunteer firefighters, who split into two teams to search the mountain. After more than three hours of rescue efforts, they successfully brought Ms. Chen down the mountain. She only suffered a knee injury and is fortunately in stable condition.
Lin Yongdong, head of the Fifth Disaster Relief Brigade of the Fire Department, stated that Sanchong District is home to several mid- to low-altitude mountains such as the Manyueyuan Mountain Range and Wuliaojian, which often attract visitors from all over. He reminded those engaging in hiking activities to thoroughly gather mountain trail information and avoid hiking in rainy weather whenever possible.
