The parents of the 15-year-old girl surnamed Yan from Taichung City reported her missing two weeks after she left home on the 12th of last month. They contacted the police on the 27th of the same month and suspect that their daughter may have been abducted by a woman known as Bai Lin—Zhang Yongyun—and have filed a complaint against her for the crime of abduction of a minor.
In addition, earlier this month, police in Taipei City unexpectedly came across a missing person during a routine check. The individual stated that he had gone hiking last month with female guide Zhang and the girl surnamed Yan, but had descended early due to feeling unwell. This confirmed to police that the girl was indeed with Zhang Yongyun.
Based on the leads, police analyzed the information and focused their search on the Tianxiang Yanhai Forest Trail and the Qilai Mountain hiking entrance in Hualien. Yesterday afternoon, they found Zhang in the Tianxiang area, where she was walking downhill while leading a vehicle. Her physical condition was reported to be relatively stable.
Regarding the whereabouts of the girl surnamed Yan, Zhang Yongyun first told police that she “didn’t know where the girl was.” But after police showed her photos of the two of them taking the same elevator in Taichung, she changed her story, admitting that she had taken the girl hiking—but then claimed she had taken her to Taipei. Her statements remained inconsistent and evasive.
The Seventh Special Police Corps stated that Zhang had a record of entering mountains and parks without prior permission on multiple occasions, and had also been accused of abducting underage girls. Currently, authorities are penalizing her for unauthorized entry into the national park under the National Park Act, and have notified the Taichung City Police Department to carry out further investigations.
The Seventh National Police Bureau stated that the woman, surnamed Zhang, had a record of multiple instances of entering mountains and parks without applying for permission, and was also accused of luring underage girls. Currently, regarding her unauthorized entry into the park, she has been fined in accordance with the National Park Law, and the case has been reported to the Taichung City Police Department for further investigation.
