In-flight meals have always been one of the most anticipated parts of travel for passengers, and China Airlines will launch a “Cloud Banquet – Taiwanese Cuisine In-Flight Meal” on routes between Taiwan and Mainland China as well as Southeast Asia. Planned by Chef Tang Wenjun from the Lung Yen Tourism Group, the menu features multiple classic dishes representing the culinary characteristics of various regions across Taiwan, allowing more travelers to enjoy the flavors of Taiwan.

The five special themed meals use the most locally sourced ingredients from Taiwan, incorporating famous local specialties such as Taiwanese tea, coffee, and pickled plums. For example, the “Coffee & Tea Meal” uses Red Jade black tea from Yu Chi Township in Nantou and coffee from Gu Keng Township in Yunlin, paired with high-quality ingredients like monkfish and Matsusaka pork, creating a uniquely Taiwanese dish unlike any other. The “Pickled Plum Meal” draws inspiration from the green plums of Shuili Township in Nantou, using nutrient-rich “pickled plums” paired with vegetables, seafood, and white meat, resulting in healthy and non-greasy dishes.

The new in-flight meals will be available on Southeast Asian routes (including Singapore, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, and others).

The “Mountain and Japanese Fusion Meal” incorporates ingredients commonly used by Taiwan’s nine indigenous tribes, using native ingredients prepared with Japanese cooking techniques to preserve the natural flavors of the ingredients — definitely worth trying. The “Soy Sauce Braised Feast” reflects popular and widely enjoyed flavors in Taiwanese cuisine, featuring a rich and varied flavor profile that can be adapted to different cooking styles such as dipping, braising, grilling, stewing, and simmering. The “Taiwan Hokkien Feast” uses red yeast rice, offering a subtle aroma reminiscent of fermented tofu wine, along with sesame oil known for nourishing the liver and lungs — a warm and comforting taste that embodies the deep and enduring hospitality of Taiwan, much like the island itself.
