Calling on everyone to hike responsibly and protect the beauty of our mountains, the UTOUR Trace-Free Mountain Hiking Event has entered its 10th year this year. To celebrate its 10th anniversary, in conjunction with the National Mountain Day hiking event on November 19, from now until July 27, all UTOUR retail stores nationwide are offering an 15% discount on selected pairs of lightweight, breathable hiking shoes for small hills, plus a free pair of cooling socks during the promotion period. There are also many recommended must-have items for summer hill hiking.
UTOUR has long been promoting the Trace-Free Mountain initiative, and as it enters its 10th year, it will expand its hiking routes this year.
Hiking routes will be selected across all counties and cities in Taiwan, including outlying islands, with 24 routes in total, all starting on November 19 simultaneously.
UTOUR’s hiking shoes are designed with foot comfort in mind, featuring elevated rubber soles for better toe protection and large mesh areas to keep your feet breathable and comfortable all day.
Escaping to the mountains to avoid the summer heat is also a great choice. In addition to advocating the seven principles of Trace-Free Mountain, UTOUR also reminds you of some summer hill hiking fashion tips to ensure you have a fun and enjoyable time in the mountains.
Tip 1: Use lightweight accessories and clothing to reduce the burden on yourself and the environment: For hill outings, it is recommended to choose a lightweight backpack of 20–25 liters. Essentials to prepare include a compact raincoat, change of clothes, energy snacks, a headlamp, and more. Additionally, hikers should definitely use trekking poles and knee pads to protect their knees.
Tip 2: Avoid heatstroke—sun protection and hydration are essential: Sun protection is a must when hiking in summer. While dressing warmly, also pay attention to breathability and comfort—items like cooling sleeves and wide-brimmed sun hats are essential accessories. More importantly, always stay hydrated, and if you feel unwell, take a rest or consider descending early.
For many years, UTOUR has been dedicated to sharing the beauty of Taiwan’s mountains with the public, hoping that while people connect with nature, they also take action to preserve its beauty. Over the past ten years of hiking events, the seeds of Trace-Free Mountain have taken root and flourished in the hearts of hikers.
This year on National Mountain Day, November 19, we welcome all mountain lovers who have accompanied us for the past 10 years to step into the next decade. Online registration runs from July 19 to 31, or until spots are filled. Bring your gear and embrace the mountains today!
