Summer Family Travel Itinerary in Macau

Macau is no longer just a vacation destination for adults. With the opening of large resort hotels equipped with various leisure and entertainment facilities, as well as the successive launch of the Macau Giant Panda Pavilion and the Macau Science Center, Macau—striving to become the “Las Vegas of Asia”—has in recent years attracted many family travelers. Due to its short flight duration, visa-free entry, and shared language and lifestyle, according to statistics from the Macau Government Tourism Office, the number of Taiwanese families traveling to Macau together has been increasing year by year since 2007. To make it more convenient for families to vacation in Macau, this summer the Macau Government Tourism Office has specially partnered with ten travel agencies: Cola Tours, Southeast Travel Service, Wing Yip Travel Service, Ezfly, Canaan Travel, Lion Travel, EzJet.com, Sanfu Travel, Jiti Travel, and Shangshun Travel Service to launch the “Macau Treasure Hunt” summer family tour package. Parents who wish to take their children on a vacation to Macau can choose not only the “flight + hotel” packages offered by EVA Air, EVA Airways, and TransAsia Airways, but also family tour itineraries designed by travel agencies.

With the economic recovery, this summer’s overseas travel market sees not only faster group formation and larger group sizes, but also higher prices across various routes compared to previous years. For parents who wish to take their children abroad for a vacation to broaden their horizons but do not want to spend too much, Macau is a destination worth considering.

The Macau Government Tourism Office and ten major Taiwanese travel agencies have collaborated under the theme “Macau Treasure Hunt” to design various family-friendly travel itineraries to Macau. The price per person is generally around NT$15,000. In addition to a wide selection of hotels and resorts, each itinerary also offers unique experiences, allowing parents to choose based on their children’s interests.

Leong Ngan Pui-lam, Director of Taiwan Market Promotion at the Macau Government Tourism Office, stated that the number of Taiwanese travelers visiting Macau continues to grow, and the number of Taiwanese visitors staying overnight in Macau is also increasing. Last year, 29.7% of Taiwanese visitors to Macau stayed overnight, an increase of 3% from the previous year. This trend shows that more and more Taiwanese are considering Macau as a vacation destination rather than just a transit point.

Leong Ngan Pui-lam pointed out that Macau’s domestic tourism and leisure resources have continued to expand in recent years. In addition to being home to the world’s cultural heritage closest to Taiwan, the Macau Science Center that stimulates children’s potential, and the Macau Giant Panda Pavilion suitable for families, there are also newly opened five-star hotels. Leong emphasized that Macau, with its diverse entertainment facilities, offers both intellectual stimulation and fun, fully meeting the needs of family travel abroad. To this end, the Macau Government Tourism Office has decided to promote family travel itineraries to Taiwan this summer, hoping to achieve growth in this market again this year.

In addition to launching family travel packages in partnership with travel agencies, the Macau Government Tourism Office has also launched the “Capture Macau” online campaign from now until September 15. Participating partners include EVA Air, Macau Air, EVA Airways, Banyan Tree Macau, and The Venetian Macao Resort Hotel, offering amazing prizes. Consumers simply need to visit the “Capture Macau” website, upload photos of Macau attractions they believe are most suitable for family travel, and rally support from friends and family through their personal social networks. The top 8 entries with the highest popularity will have the chance to win the grand prize of a “3-day, 2-night luxury free trip to Macau,” which includes a stay at the globally renowned and newly opened Banyan Tree Macau or the highly popular The Venetian Macao Resort Hotel.

Currently, Macau offers numerous family-friendly attractions and hotels. To escape the heat, you can enjoy the cool “Ice FUN World” at The Venetian Macao Resort Hotel, or visit the Galaxy Resort City, which opened in May this year, to build sandcastles and play in the waves at the world’s largest sky-top wave pool. Additionally, world-famous international entertainment performances such as “Cirque du Soleil” and “The House of Dancing Water” are also great options for family enjoyment. All of these facilities and performances can be found in the family travel packages designed by the Macau Government Tourism Office and travel agencies this summer.
