On the afternoon of the 19th, a hiker surnamed Zhang went camping alone at Lake Garo. He planned to hike 18 kilometers the next day (the 20th) to reach Taiping Mountain Lodge, but got lost due to unfamiliarity with the terrain and called for emergency help from the fire department. Rescue personnel located the hiker on the morning of the 20th.
Zhang went missing in the mountains around 3 p.m. on the 19th and used his smartphone to call for rescue. Relying on satellite positioning, firefighters found him at 11 a.m. on the 20th on Duomen Mountain. By that time, he was already showing signs of hypothermia. The firefighters started a fire on-site and grilled food to help him warm up. Once his strength returned, they escorted him down the mountain and to the hospital.
