Taichung: Lin, a 53-year-old mechanical engineer surnamed Lin, was hiking alone on the Daking No. 10 Hiking Trail on New Year’s Day when he suddenly collapsed about 800 meters from the trailhead. Fellow hikers discovered him and promptly called the police. When firefighters and paramedics arrived at the scene, Lin had no vital signs. He was rushed to the hospital but could not be revived.
