Do you believe that dreams of deceased loved ones can lead to unexpected wealth? A 57-year-old South Korean man recently dreamed of his grandmother right after holding her funeral. He then went hiking in Jirisan Mountain, South Gyeongsang Province, where he casually picked three wild ginseng plants. To his surprise, one of them was later identified as a “century-old ginseng,” valued at 100 million KRW (approximately NT$2.77 million).
According to Yonhap News Agency, the man, surnamed Kim, hiked in Jirisan Mountain on the 5th of this month. During the trip, he came across three wild ginsengs and picked them on impulse. Later, experts determined that one of them was a “century-old wild ginseng.” The president of the Korea Traditional Ginseng Harvesters Association stated that such ginseng is extremely rare, with an estimated value of up to 100 million KRW (about NT$2.77 million).
The “century-old wild ginseng” has a main root about 12 cm long, weighing around 40 grams, with the root itself weighing 19 grams. The root even has a strong minty fragrance, and shows signs of “hibernation.” The other two ginsengs were identified as being 15 years old. Surprised by his unexpected find, the man revealed, “I’ve been taking great care of my grandmother’s memorial rites lately. After dreaming of her, I went out and found the ginseng.”
