The Han Kuang military exercise commenced today (4th), during which an F-16 fighter jet took off from Hualien and went missing at 1:43 p.m. in the airspace near Keelung. Hikers on a mountain trail 3 kilometers from the Wufengshan Radar Station discovered a large amount of aircraft wreckage. Rescue authorities reported that a suspected crash impact site was found not far from the hiking trail, with trees toppled on the hillside and loose soil and rocks.
New Taipei City Fire Department deployed a total of 22 vehicles, 67 firefighters, and 3 volunteer firefighters for the search and rescue operation, along with 2 search dogs and 1 drone.
