Taichung boasts a diverse and rich culture, with many historic buildings well preserved. To help both children and adults learn about Taichung through these important structures, the Taichung City Government Vision Hall will host a picture book storytelling workshop titled “The Story Map of the Pangolin” on October 19 and 30. The event will guide participants on a reading tour of Taichung’s historic architecture. A 5D theater offering aerial views of Taichung’s beauty will also be available on-site. Free online registration is now open, with limited spots available. Families are welcome to join enthusiastically.
From May to December this year, the Vision Hall will launch a monthly workshop series, with themes closely related to Taichung and suitable for family participation. The October theme will use the picture book “The Story Map of the Pangolin” to take families on a journey through famous historic buildings such as the City Hall, Taichung Prefectural Office, and Taichung Railway Station, guided by the pangolin character “Ah Jin.”
The Taichung City Government Information Bureau stated that Taichung was known as the “Little Kyoto” during the Japanese colonial period. This event takes inspiration from the picture book *The Story Map of the Pangolin*, where each building serves as a time capsule, preserving the legacy of generations who built their homes here. The public is invited to “discover” the stories of the people of Taichung and experience the hall’s 5D theater, which offers an aerial perspective to “fly over Taichung” and witness its beauty.
The event will take place on October 16 and October 30, with one session in the morning and one in the afternoon each day (10:00 and 14:00). Each session is limited to 20 participants, primarily for families. Registration is now open and will remain so until all spots are filled. Participants can register online via the October 16 registration link (https://forms.gle/YYp3Jx3nwfxWgT5p8) or the October 30 registration link (https://forms.gle/5sYin8qzRyEuB1oY8). After submitting the form, the organizing team will send a confirmation email within two days to notify applicants of their registration status. For further inquiries, visitors may contact the Vision Hall service desk or call (04)2228-9111 ext. 11994 for assistance.
