It’s a park and a playground. The Taiping District Office of Taichung has installed the city’s first climbing exploration play structure in Xinfu Park, combining parkour-style climbing with slides. The structure is 9 meters long and 5.3 meters high, with a castle-style roof adorned with wind-catching flags that are quite charming. Safe and eye-catching, it has become a new highlight for family recreation.

Xinfu Park in Taiping District is located next to No. 100, Section 2, Hanxi East Road, on the north side of Jingwu Bridge. It enjoys convenient transportation, with parking spaces available on both sides of the road. The park also has an iBike Smile Station, offering shared bicycles to encourage people to come exercise. Covering an area of 1.45 hectares—about 1.7 times the size of a soccer field—Xinfu Park is home not only to Taichung’s first climbing exploration play structure but also features lush greenery and well-developed facilities. Other amenities include a sandbox, children’s play area, fitness equipment, basketball court, plaza, and a sculpture inspired by the water rail bird, among others. Standing at the center of the park, visitors can also enjoy the morning and evening scenery of Taiping while feeling the breeze.

This “exploration maze” is the first climbing exploration play structure in Taichung. Before its inauguration, the district office had it tested by certified agencies to ensure compliance with CNS standards and safety management regulations for children’s playgrounds. Xianfang District Chief Xu Guifang said that as the city government undertook park renovations, he considered introducing new types of play equipment to Taiping District parks. After careful consideration, he chose the climbing exploration play structure, which allows children to engage their eyes, hands, and feet all at once, experiencing various movements during exploration to strengthen core muscles and develop sensory integration skills. Chief Xu also recommends that the public plan a visit to Xinfu Park during holidays or ride bikes along the nearby Hanxi Bicycle Path for a half-day family outing and quality bonding time.
