Mountain climbing and hiking are popular leisure activities for many people, but they also carry the risk of encountering natural disasters, making them potentially dangerous. Recently, a hiker in Russia discovered a doll-like mummified body in the ice while climbing Mount Elbrus. After police identified the remains, it was revealed to be Elena Basykina, a woman who had gone missing in an avalanche 31 years ago. Her relatives, upon hearing the news, sorrowfully said, "We've waited for her for 30 years."
According to reports from multiple international media outlets, a hiker in Russia recently spotted a wax-doll-like corpse encased in ice while ascending Mount Elbrus. Nearby, there were also clothes believed to belong to the body. Among the items, they found a passport and an airplane ticket dated April 10, 1987. After the hiker reported the find to the authorities, relevant agencies investigated and confirmed that the body was that of Basykina, who had gone missing 31 years ago in an avalanche.
At the time, 36-year-old Basykina had been climbing Mount Elbrus with six friends when they unfortunately encountered an avalanche, resulting in all of them going missing. Her family had initially believed she had been kidnapped or taken hostage. It wasn’t until they recently received news of Basykina’s remains being found that they accepted she had passed away. They added mournfully, "We've waited for her for 30 years." Russian authorities also released footage of the rescue team recovering the remains, which showed Basykina still wearing heavy mountaineering gear.
