At around 11 a.m. on the 22nd at the Gongliao Longdong platform in New Taipei City, a man surnamed Huang from Changhua County was hiking along a nearby trail with friends when he suddenly felt unwell, collapsed, and lost vital signs. After receiving the report, coast patrol officers arrived to conduct the rescue and transported Mr. Huang to Keelung Chang Gung Memorial Hospital. Despite emergency treatment, he could not be revived.
When coast patrol officers arrived, they found the patient in critical condition. They immediately performed CPR and, together with firefighters, worked to save him. The 58-year-old was first taken to the nearest Gongliao Health Station for emergency aid before being rushed to Chang Gung Hospital for more advanced treatment. A friend who had been hiking with Mr. Huang told coast patrol officers that the man suddenly said he didn’t feel well, then collapsed on the spot and lost consciousness. No one knew what had happened.
The Coast Guard Administration’s Second Coast Patrol Corps urges the public that, with recent sudden weather changes, those planning to visit coastal or harbor areas should pay extra attention to their surroundings as well as strong waves and winds. If you spot someone drowning or involved in other incidents, please make use of the free “118” emergency hotline. Upon receiving a report, the Coast Guard will respond immediately to assist and secure critical rescue time.
