A female climber in a bikini was found dead after falling off a mountain. Her body has not yet been retrieved, but 12 postcards she sent to fellow hikers have surfaced. A fellow climber said that upon hearing the news of “G,” a woman surnamed Wu, falling off a cliff on the night of the 21st, he felt a strange “sensation” while tidying his drawer at home and found the postcards G had sent him. Each postcard featured stunning photos of her climbing perilous mountains while wearing a bikini.
The fellow climber surnamed Xie said he is passionate about mountaineering and often teams up with colleagues during holidays to challenge Taiwan’s Hundred Peaks. Two years ago, while climbing Qilai South Peak with colleagues, he happened to meet “G,” a woman surnamed Wu. During their chat, he learned that “G” often carried heavy gear—weighing over 20 kilograms, including a DSLR camera and tripod—while climbing mountains alone, wearing only a bikini under her hiking jacket. She would take photos with breathtaking hidden landscapes even atop steep cliffs.
Xie noted that “G” would share photos from her climbs with fellow hikers via LINE every time, including those of her successfully reaching summits. Especially moving were the shocking images of her legs pierced and cut by tree branches in the wild, which deeply saddened fellow climbers.
Xie pointed out that he received a postcard from “G” last year. Though he kept it, he forgot where he put it. After searching for a long time, he suddenly had a “sensation” and opened a drawer at random—there, neatly arranged, were 12 postcards she had sent before her death. He exclaimed in shock: Somehow, “G” seemed to be telling him that she had captured the beautiful scenery and completed her mission.
