Start the new year by taking an oath of determination through a team mountain climb. After joining the Development Financial Holding Company, China Life also participated in the financial holding group’s “Crossing 60 Peaks Towards Excellence” nationwide mountain climbing event. The first group was led by China Life’s Vice Chairman Guo Yuling in a climb up Jian-Tan Mountain. In 2019, besides continuing to grow, China Life has set goals to achieve “progress in both quality and quantity” and to “grow stronger and bigger.”
In 2017, the Development Financial Holding Company launched a public tender offer for China Life, acquiring a 25.33% stake. Combined with the existing shares from KGI Securities, China Life now holds a 35% stake as a subsidiary of the Development Financial Holding Company. It is scheduled to become a 100% subsidiary of the Development Financial Holding Company by 2020, allowing the financial group to fully consolidate China Life’s profits.
China Life is the sixth-largest life insurance company in terms of domestic assets. Despite the market turbulence in the capital markets during the fourth quarter of 2018, China Life maintained its profit level at tens of billions of New Taiwan Dollars, likely ranking fourth in annual profits among life insurers. Last year, its new contract premiums also exceeded NT$150 billion, hitting a historical high and ranking fourth in the industry.
In the new year, China Life is required to maintain growth in all aspects within a highly competitive environment. China Life’s General Manager Huang Shu-fen has also set goals to drive the company’s transformation through digitalization and efforts to appeal to younger customers, providing policyholders with a brand-new experience to achieve the objectives of “progress in both quality and quantity” and to “grow stronger and bigger.”
To foster team spirit and reaffirm the goal of unity and continued advancement, the first 2019 mountain climbing group of China Life was led by Guo Yuling, with nearly 200 employees and their family members climbing Jian-Tan Mountain together. The event emphasized the need to put transformation into action and welcome the new year with health.
