To enhance mountain education and ecological conservation, Snow Mountain National Park has organized lecture events for three consecutive years. This year’s theme is “Majestic Peaks & Ecology: Awakening for Conservation.” From March to November, events including the “Mountain Snow Mountain Green Living Lecture Series” and the “Snow Mountain Wilderness Legends Lecture Series” will take place in Taichung, Hsinchu, and Miaoli. The park authority encourages the public to join hands and hearts in this wild celebration, rediscovering a green lifestyle and inner peace.
As a mountainous national park, Snow Mountain National Park features continuous high peaks, diverse terrains, and varied forest types across different altitudes, nurturing rich natural ecology and abundant wildlife species. The park authority noted that lecture topics include ecological conservation, the relationship between species and habitats, as well as mountain culture, safety, and related laws. Admission is free and seating is on a first-come, first-served basis, aiming to raise public awareness and appreciation for ecological conservation.
All lecture sessions are held on Saturday afternoons from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and are divided into two groups. The “Mountain Snow Mountain Green Living Lecture Series” will take place on March 9, July 13, and November 9 at the International Conference Hall of the National Public Information Library in Taichung City; and on May 25, June 1, 22, July 20, 27, August 24, 31, and September 21 in the B1 Audiovisual Room of the Dadun Cultural Center, totaling 11 sessions.
The “Snow Mountain Wilderness Legends Lecture Series” will be held on March 30, April 13, 27, May 18, and June 15 in the 3F Lecture and Audiovisual Room of the Hsinchu City Government Cultural Affairs Bureau; and on September 28, October 19, and November 23 in the International Conference Hall of the Miaoli County Government, totaling 8 sessions.
To encourage public participation, the park authority has launched the Snow Mountain Alliance Points Tree activity. Attendees will receive one points card per lecture, with one stamp awarded for each session attended. The park authority stated that collecting 3 points earns a Snow Mountain commemorative mug; 4 points earns a 10L hiking backpack; and 5 points earns a Taiwanese landlocked salmon T-shirt. Redemption is limited to the same points card, one redemption per card, and one card per person. Points cannot be accumulated across multiple cards.
