During the three-day Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, many people took the opportunity to travel. On the first day of the break, with clear weather in Hualien, the Hualien Forest District Office organized activities such as “Chihu South – A Fulfilling Mid-Autumn, Soap-Making Happiness,” “Lintianshan Forest Manager’s Office – Atayal Weaving Exhibition,” “Ruisui Ecological Education Museum – Life by the Sea,” and “Hualien Coastal Life Special Exhibition.” These offerings range from parent-child crafts and cultural arts to ecological activities, making them perfect for family outings.

To encourage parents to spend more time outdoors with their children, the Chihu National Forest Recreation Area is hosting the “A Fulfilling Mid-Autumn, Soap-Making Happiness” event over the three-day Mid-Autumn holiday. The cost per person for materials is just NT$399, and participants can make their own handmade soap and anti-itch soothing balm.

The Lintianshan Forestry Culture Park, in collaboration with the National Taitung Living Arts Center, the Hualien County Cultural Affairs Bureau, and Wanrong Township Office, is holding the “Atayal Weaving” exhibition from now until December 1. The displayed works are drawn from the collection of the Wanrong Township Indigenous Cultural Museum and showcase traditional skills of Atayal men in weaving and women in textile art.

Traveling further south, the Ruisui Ecological Education Museum is also a great choice for family fun. In addition to its permanent exhibition on the Yuli Wildlife Reserve, the museum is currently featuring “Life by the Sea, Hualien Coastal Life,” which uses vivid and engaging stories to introduce the diverse coastal cultures of the East Coast.
