The 2019 New Taipei City Hakka Tung Blossom Festival is about to begin. The Tucheng District Office will host the “Fluttering Tung Blossoms, Guests Ascending to the Heavens Mountain Climbing” event on Sunday, April 21. Registration opens at 10:00 AM on April 8, with a limit of 500 participants. The event is only open for online registration. The public can sign up via the Tucheng District Office website at http://www.tucheng.ntpc.gov.tw/. Everyone is welcome to join.
The district office stated that Tucheng has convenient and well-developed hiking trails for enjoying tung blossoms and invited the public to stroll and admire the blooms. This hiking event will start from Nantianmu Square, passing through Qingxi Trail, Tung Blossom Park, and Wangyue Pavilion before reaching Tianhsianshan Moon Viewing Pavilion, then following the firefly-watching trail back to Nantianmu Square. The total route is approximately 3 kilometers and is expected to take about 2 hours. Participants can collect a stamp card upon check-in on the day of the event, with a stamping station located at Tianhsianshan Moon Viewing Pavilion. Upon completion, the stamp card can be exchanged for a souvenir.
The Tucheng District Office noted that, in consideration of event safety and to confirm the order of registration, the hiking activity will only be available via online registration, with a cap of 500 participants. No on-site registration will be accepted on the day. Additionally, the public is reminded that traffic control will be implemented at the festival venue during the Tung Blossom Festival period. Participants can take the paid shuttle bus to the event from Exit 3 of Yongning MRT Station.
