To advocate for the physical and mental well-being of employees in the textile weaving industry, foster family harmony, and strengthen camaraderie among members, the Taiwan Textile Weaving Guild, in collaboration with the Textile Industry Research Institute, the Alumni Association of the Department of Textile Engineering and the Department of Molecular Science and Engineering at Taipei Tech, the Taiwan Textile R&D International Exchange Association, and the Taiwan Industrial Textiles Association, jointly organized the 2019 Textile Weaving Industry Hiking and Fellowship Raffle Event on April 28.
In support and encouragement of this hiking event in Xinbeitou, Taipei Mayor Ko Wen-je personally attended. At 9:00 AM on the 28th, he was accompanied by Textile Weaving Guild Chairman Chuang Ching-ming, Honorary Chairmen Dai Hong-yi and Chen Jian-zhu, Chairman Lo Chung-cheng of the Textile Industry Association, Chairman Chen Cheng-hung of the Creative Generation Association, President Huang Mao-chuan of Asia Eastern Institute of Technology, and Linquan Li Ward Chief Chen Hui-hua of Beitou District.
Ko Wen-je also took the opportunity to inspect nearby trails and attended a fellowship luncheon at noon. In addition to commending the organizing associations for planning the event, he delivered a speech during which his well-known philosophy — “Take each day seriously, and live each day happily” — brought laughter to the crowd. He also warmly invited guests at each table to take photos with him, creating a lively and heartwarming atmosphere.
Textile Weaving Guild Chairman Chuang Ching-ming stated that to promote the physical and mental health of industry workers and foster family harmony, the guild has been organizing the Textile Weaving Industry Hiking, Fellowship, and Raffle Event since 1998, making this year the 22nd edition. Each year’s event has been vibrant and dynamic, thanks to the strong support and enthusiastic sponsorship from the guild’s board members, supervisors, and related organizations, who provide funding and raffle prizes.
Wang Neng-hsien, the consultant responsible for planning the hiking route, noted that Xinbeitou is rich in geothermal hot springs. It is also home to the Taipei Public Library Beitou Branch, Taiwan’s first green building, as well as stylish luxury hot spring hotels, helping the area maintain its century-old charm and making it one of Taipei’s most culturally rich, historic, geological, and recreational destinations.
