To celebrate Earth Day and World Environment Day, the Changhua County Environmental Protection Bureau has launched the “Parent-Child Learning & Eco-Education Tour,” offering a total of 70 sessions with 3,100 spots available. The program features six themes spanning mountainous and coastal areas, covering topics such as wetland ecology, farming experiences, and cultural history. The entire experience is free, allowing both children and adults to engage all five senses—listening, smelling, seeing, creating, and tasting—to deeply explore the beauty of Changhua.
Changhua County Magistrate Wang Hui-mei said that Changhua boasts plains, hills, and expansive muddy wetlands where mountains meet water. With a rich cultural heritage shaped by Fujianese and Cantonese immigrant communities and a 300-year history as a county, the region is home to a colorful array of historic sites. This event brings together the dedication of various groups to deliver a well-rounded, educational, and fun experience. She hopes parents will take this opportunity to explore the countryside with their children, strengthen family bonds, learn about the local environment, and cherish the precious land beneath their feet.
The Environmental Protection Bureau expressed gratitude to three villages/communities—Fubao, Zhongquan, and Yuanyuan—the Huatan Township Farmers’ Association, the Qingshuiyan Ecological and Cultural Creative Association, and three other organizations—the Changhua County Employability Education Association—for creating six unique tour routes.
The six themes include “Treasure Hunting on Land and Sea ~ Wetlands & Colorful Exploration,” “Leisurely Strolls in Banxian ~ Cultural Walks,” “Exploring Erbashui ~ Rural Community Experiences,” “Jasmine & Brick Kilns ~ Friendly Farming Methods,” “Butterflies & Water Environments ~ Rediscovering Ecology,” and “Traversing the Eighteen Bends Ancient Trail ~ Forest Breathing.” Registration for this year’s activities opened at 9 a.m. on April 1st, and past records show spots fill up instantly—locals are encouraged to mark their calendars and sign up online promptly.
