Recently, self-drive tours from Hunchun City in Jilin Province to North Korea resumed, coinciding with the “May Day” holiday, marking a peak period for Chinese residents traveling to North Korea by car. With the rise of international tourism in Northeast Asia, Jilin Province is leveraging the tourism industry to accelerate its integration into the Belt and Road Initiative. It is reported that since 2013, Northeast Asia has become the region with the highest number of tourist visits in Asia.
