The Shei-Pa National Park Headquarters and Hsinchu Forest District Office have adjusted the bed capacity at Jiujui Mountain Hut from the current 100 applicants per day to 150, effective immediately, in an effort to improve mountaineering service quality. They will also trial regular motorcycle-based supply transport operations. In the future, they plan to tidy up the work sheds along the eastern section of the Daliu Forest Road and add external rest facilities to serve as temporary resting and emergency shelter spaces for hikers.
Located at an altitude of about 2,700 meters, Jiujui Mountain Hut covers a large area and has substantial accommodation capacity, making it an important base for climbing the Dabie Mountain Range. The Shei-Pa National Park Office has observed the growing popularity of mountaineering in recent years, with visitor numbers surging on weekends and holidays. Recently, discussions were held with the Hsinchu Forest District Office to enhance services along the Dabie hiking trail, starting with increasing the number of beds available for booking at Jiujui Mountain Hut to accommodate demand during peak times.
Zheng Ruichang, Deputy Director of the Shei-Pa National Park Office, stated that in consideration of the working rights of local tribal members and to reduce the physical burden of transporting supplies, a trial of regular motorcycle supply transport has been initiated. He further explained that high-altitude support food supplies were previously carried on foot. Transport personnel had to walk the approximately 19-kilometer trail along the eastern section of the Daliu Forest Road, then climb a 1,000-meter elevation gain over a roughly 4-kilometer stretch from the Madala Creek Trailhead, placing significant strain on their knees.
Zheng Ruichang said the motorcycle transport operation replaces the previous foot transport process along the eastern section of the Daliu Forest Road by allowing motorcycles to assist with carrying supplies during scheduled times, significantly reducing the physical burden on personnel. In the future, the interior environments of the work sheds along the route will also be tidied up and cleaning and maintenance will be strengthened.
