Lucheng Crystal Yuan Hotel and Volkswagen Taiwan announced today (29th) a cross-industry launch of the innovative "Carstel" experience service. The hotel has invested NT$50 million to purchase 40 units of three latest Volkswagen models, and starting June, guests staying for three days and two nights or longer can freely choose a vehicle for a convenient self-drive tour in Yilan — a first in Taiwan.
Lucheng Crystal Yuan has gained fame in the family travel sector with its "Fondoo Castle," and uniquely created an electric car-themed floor for children. In recent years, it has partnered with the New Moon Luxury Cinema located downstairs to launch the "Happy Cinema" service, including a first-run cinema as a complimentary hotel facility. This year, the service experience has been significantly upgraded to provide guests with "travel" convenience and meet the needs of family vacations.
Lucheng Crystal Yuan explained that Carstel is an innovative word formed from the plural of "Car" and the suffix "Hotel," representing the hotel's provision of a variety of vehicles for guest use. This initiative also extends the concept of the "Fondoo Castle" created for children, using multiple Volkswagen models to turn Yilan into an adult version of Fondoo Castle, allowing guests to enjoy the pleasure of self-driving.
Wu Sheng-yi, General Manager of Lucheng Crystal Yuan, said that Yilan boasts beautiful mountains and rivers, and it’s a pity for guests to stay only within the hotel. Through this cross-industry collaboration with Volkswagen, he recommends that guests staying for three days and two nights take public transportation to Yilan, use the hotel’s free shuttle service to check in, and then enjoy the provided Carstel car service for self-driving tours, avoiding the fatigue of traffic congestion on National Freeway No. 5.
To meet the diverse needs of travelers, Lucheng Crystal Yuan is offering a choice of three vehicle types this time: the stylish Beetle, the hatchback Golf, and the spacious seven-seater MPV Touran. Currently, there are 26 units available, with plans to increase to 40. At the same time, an adult car pick-up center has been established based on the concept of the "Fondoo Castle" children’s car pick-up center, with child car seats available as a safety option.
In addition, Volkswagen Taiwan and Lucheng Crystal Yuan have jointly created a Volkswagen classic room type for the first time, launching two cross-industry themed room styles: a playful style and a GTI performance style. These theme rooms are available for limited daily reservations, and guests who book a theme room will receive a special Volkswagen gift, inviting them to spend a night in a piece of German craftsmanship.
