Known as the top hotel for family-friendly travel, Lancheng Grand Crystal Hotel has been making waves in recent years. Following the launch of the Fendouqibao children’s electric car-themed floor, which earned it a reputation in the family tourism scene, the hotel also incorporated the “New Moon Luxury Cinema” into its services, offering guests free access to the latest blockbusters during their stay under the “Happy Cinema” program. These value-added services have delighted both adults and children. Last year, the hotel ambitiously transformed its presidential suite space into the “WOWO Fun Family Play Area,” further elevating its offerings. In 2018, Lancheng Grand Crystal aims to enhance its “travel” services by investing a bold NT$50 million in a cross-industry collaboration with Volkswagen Taiwan. The hotel has acquired dozens of Volkswagen models and built a dedicated car pick-up center, significantly upgrading the convenience of travel for guests. It is now the only resort in Taiwan that offers an all-in-one vacation experience covering food, accommodation, transportation, travel, and entertainment.
Starting from June this year, guests who book Lancheng Grand Crystal Hotel’s seasonal packages and stay for at least two nights and three days will be eligible to choose a free Volkswagen car—such as the Beetle, Golf, or Touran—for self-drive tours during their extended stay. Children can enjoy driving electric cars around the Fendouqibao area or the in-room race track, while adults can opt for their favorite Volkswagen model to explore nearby attractions. This extends the car-driving concept of Fendouqibao, turning the entire Yilan area into a playground for adults—a true “Carstel.”
“Carstel” is an innovative term formed by combining the plural of “Car” with the suffix of “Hotel,” representing the hotel’s provision of a variety of vehicles for guest use and redefining the concept of hotel accommodation. Children can pick up electric cars at the Fendouqibao children’s car center, while adults can visit the specially built adult car center, which features a comfortable reception area, vehicle selection zone, and instructional space. Vehicles also come equipped with safety features such as child car seats, allowing guests to drive freely. Guests staying for two nights and three days or more are recommended to use public transport to reach the hotel, where complimentary shuttle service is available from Yilan Railway Station or the transit hub. They can then take advantage of the hotel’s car services to self-drive and explore popular attractions such as the Lanyang Museum, National Center for Traditional Arts, Meihua Lake, and Jimmy Park. Prices start from NT$18,000 for a two-night, three-day stay.
