Giant "Trumpet Water Slide" – Dare to Try? Sunway Lagoon Boasts Three World Records

Less than 15 minutes from Kuala Lumpur, Sunway Theme Park (Sunway Lagoon Theme Park) is located within Sunway City in Petaling Jaya and is quite well-known locally. It turns out this park holds three world records: the world’s largest water slide, the world’s largest artificial wave lagoon, and the world’s longest pedestrian suspension bridge. On a hot summer afternoon, immersing yourself in this unique and awe-inspiring theme park always feels like “money well spent.”

Spanning 13,000 square meters, Sunway Lagoon features five distinct themed zones: the Water Park, Amusement Park, Wildlife Park, Extreme Park, and Scream Park, offering a total of over 80 attractions and activities. But you absolutely must not miss the world records found within the park.

1. The World’s Largest Water Slide – "Vuvuzela"


The 11-story-tall Vuvuzela is the signature ride of Sunway Lagoon. Aside from its height, the slide features a trumpet-shaped opening with a diameter of 22 meters, resembling a giant African horn soaring through the air. The slide itself is 158 meters long. Riders board a six-person raft and ultimately plunge into the funnel-shaped opening – an exhilarating experience.

2. The World’s Longest Pedestrian Suspension Bridge


Aside from the Vuvuzela, another eye-catching feature at Sunway Lagoon is a long suspension bridge – the world’s longest pedestrian suspension bridge. Stretching 428 meters in length and suspended 30 meters above the ground, this bridge offers sweeping views of the entire Sunway Lagoon. Some sections of the bridge have gaps in the flooring – definitely not for those with heart conditions.

3. The World’s Largest Artificial Surfing Beach

At the heart of the park lies a stretch of fine artificial white sand. After riding the slides, visitors can lounge on the beach or try the 2-meter-high artificial waves. This is the world’s largest artificial surfing beach.

Transportation:
You can fly with Malaysia Airlines to Kuala Lumpur International Airport and drive to the park, or depart from Kuala Lumpur Sentral and take Rapid KL bus U63 or U67 to Sunway Pyramid.

Alternatively, take the free shuttle bus, available daily from 7:00 AM to 9:30 PM, running every 25 minutes in Bandar Sunway. On weekends and public holidays, the service runs from 9:00 AM to 9:30 PM, stopping at Sunway Pyramid Hotel, Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa, Sunway Pyramid Mall, Sunway Lagoon entrance, and Sunway Medical Centre.
