World's 50 Best Restaurants: Andre Chiang's Singapore Restaurant Drops to No. 46

The World's 50 Best Restaurants list, known as the "Oscars of Gastronomy" and hosted by the authoritative British food magazine Restaurant, has been released. The Roca brothers' El Celler de Can Roca, run by three siblings, took the top spot, while Restaurant ANDRE, led by Chef André Chiang in Singapore, dropped from No. 37 last year to No. 46 this year.

El Celler de Can Roca, opened in 1986 in Girona, Spain, claimed the top spot on the 2013 list, surpassing Noma. However, it slipped to No. 2 in 2014 and has now reclaimed the championship. Osteria Francescana in Modena, Italy, secured second place, and Noma, which won last year, came in third. Central in Lima, Peru, ranked fourth, jumping up 11 places from the previous year. Fifth place went to Eleven Madison Park in New York, USA, which dropped one spot.

Ranks six through ten were taken by Mugaritz in San Sebastián, Spain; Dinner by Heston Blumenthal in London, UK; Narisawa in Tokyo, Japan; D.O.M. in São Paulo, Brazil; and Gaggan in Bangkok, Thailand.

Seven Asian restaurants made the list: NARISAWA (Japan) at No. 8, Gaggan (Thailand) at No. 10, nahm (Thailand) at No. 22, Ultraviolet by Paul Pairet (China) at No. 24, Den (Japan) at No. 29, Amber (Hong Kong) at No. 38, and Restaurant ANDRE (Singapore, founded by André Chiang) at No. 46.
