Michelin-starred Korean chef Yim Jungsik arrived at Regent Taipei on June 4 for a three-day guest chef engagement, presenting “Fashionable Michelin Korean Star Banquet” at Robin’s Steakhouse on the hotel’s second floor. The menu blends classic Korean ingredients with French culinary techniques to offer innovative Franco-Korean dishes. The lunch set includes six courses per person for NT$5,800 (with two selected pairing wines), limited to 50 guests per session; the dinner set features nine courses per person for NT$8,800, limited to 80 guests per session (with five selected pairing wines).
Chef Yim Jungsik owns two restaurants, both named after himself—Jungsik—one in Seoul, South Korea, and the other in New York, USA. The Seoul location first appeared on the S.Pellegrino Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants list in 2014, ranking 20th, and also won the awards for Best Restaurant in Korea and Best First-Time Entry. In the recently announced 2015 Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants list, Jungsik climbed to 10th place. Meanwhile, the New York Jungsik earned one Michelin star in 2013, becoming the world’s first Korean restaurant to receive Michelin recognition, and was further elevated to two Michelin stars in both 2014 and 2015.
