The view stretches all the way to the Taiwan Strait！Kaohsiung’s 100-meter “Skywalk” opened in 2016

Kaohsiung is set to unveil a brand-new skywalk！The Dagangshan and Xiaogangshan scenic area, known for its expansive views, has recently launched a series of renovation projects. In addition to building a brand new observation deck, plans are now underway to construct a skywalk, expected to be completed and open to the public by the end of 2016.

The Dagangshan and Xiaogangshan scenic area boasts vast vistas. To the east, you can enjoy close-up views of the picturesque Lake Agongdian; to the west, you can overlook the urban landscapes of Gangshan and Yong’an, as well as high-speed trains speeding by. On clear days, you can even see the mountains around Zhongliaoshan and, further off, the main ridge of the Central Mountain Range, including Beidawushan, and the Taiwan Strait, making it an ideal new leisure destination for locals and visitors.

To provide visitors with a more comfortable recreational environment, the Kaohsiung City Tourism Bureau has not only built a new Xiaogangshan observation deck in the scenic area, but also constructed a thousand-step stone stairway on Dagangshan, the Bodhi Avenue, parking lots, road paving, and a comprehensive guidance system for the entire area, enhancing the overall comfort of the Dagangshan and Xiaogangshan environment.

The Tourism Bureau stated that a new flat-style skywalk will be built in the Dagangshan and Xiaogangshan scenic area in the future. Stretching approximately 100 meters in length, it will use 17-meter-high beams to support the sloped pathway. The flat section will be designed like a forest trail, giving visitors a different experience on the way in and out.

Transportation information for the Dagangshan and Xiaogangshan scenic area

1. Take the Kaohsiung MRT to Nangangshan Station, then transfer to Hong 70 operated by Port City Bus or Kaohsiung Bus 8013, and get off at Jiujui Station
2. A “Dagangshan Holiday Sightseeing Bus” is available on holidays
