Century-old Nine-fragrant Tree Blossoms Fall onto the Heart-Shaped Pond – The Most Beautiful Summer Snow Scene at “Crown Prince’s Guesthouse” in New Taipei

It’s now “June snow” at the Gold Museum in New Taipei City. The century-old Nine-fragrant Tree standing inside the Crown Prince’s Guesthouse is in full bloom. Tiny white flowers sway in the wind, some drifting down like fine snow, creating a snowy scene that has become a rare beauty spot within the Gold Museum.

The Crown Prince’s Guesthouse is said to have been built in 1922 as a temporary annex constructed by the former Tanaka Mining Co., Ltd. to host the then Japanese Crown Prince, later Emperor Hirohito, during his inspection visit to Taiwan. Although the Crown Prince ultimately did not stay there, the carefully designed garden landscape was preserved and is now open to the public.

The century-old Nine-fragrant Tree in the garden is the main scenic tree of the entire garden, displaying various seasonal colors throughout the year. During its blooming season, the white blossoms drift like fine snow onto the roof of the Crown Prince’s Guesthouse and onto the Heart-shaped Pond in the garden, attracting many domestic and international visitors who come specifically each year to admire this “summer snow scene.”
